Shirley Allenbrand is one of the candidates competing for the chair of the Johnson County Commission.

Shirley was born and raised in Olathe, Kansas, and has been working and serving the community since the age of fourteen. During her teen years, she worked in surrounding farmers' cornfields to raise money to help her parents.

Her parents reinforced a strong work ethic and leadership throughout her personal and professional life.

The brilliant commissioner is connected to the Johnson County government. She worked for the Johnson County Park & Recreation District as the Director of the Olathe Senior Center. 

Gary Hailer recognized her for her devotion and excellent service. She was also a member of the Theatre in the Park's board of directors.

District six's representative has held several prominent positions in the Olathe community. She has worked for the Olathe Chamber of Commerce and the National Association of Planning Councils. The candidate was also part of the American Health Care Association and Women Who Mean Business.

Furthermore, she is the founder of the University of Kansas Health Systems' Shirley Fund for Cardiology Health (UKHS). She has served on the Heart-Funding Council, the UKHS, the Friends of Cedar Crest (K.S. Governor), the UKHS Advancement Board, and the Olathe Planning Commission. She is also a Gardner-Edgerton and De Soto Chambers of Commerce member.
