Monica Cryan Biography

Monica Cryan is a broadcast meteorologist, working currently at WeatherNation in West Hartford, Connecticut. She was born and raised near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. She has lived in Pennsylvania, Texas, Alabama, and is currently a resident of Colorado.

She discovered her passion for the weather while in high school leading her to pursue the craft after matriculating; when she enrolled at Pennsylvania State University.

She is also a member of the American Meteorological Society (AMS) and is a Certified Broadcast Meteorologist. After completing her master’s degree in 2017, she stayed with WeatherNation for another year before deciding to move to PHL17 which serves the Philadelphia and Delaware Valley area. She said that one of her reasons for moving to the station was because of her history in the area, as she had attended schools there including Penn State University.

Similar to numerous weather broadcasters, she is highly active online through accounts on social media. She has an account on Instagram on which she posts a lot of personal photos including those taken behind the scenes from her workplace. She also has a Twitter account that posts some of her days today endeavors while also promoting her broadcasts.

After a year with WSFA 12 News, Monica Cryan then decided to join NBC Connecticut or WVIT which is an NBC-owned station serving the Hartford-New Haven television market.

The station is known for its news broadcasts as well as other original programming. She left the station in 2015 to work with WeatherNation, which primarily broadcasts live and pre-recorded weather forecasts. They cover, regional, local, and national forecasts as well as weather-related news.

One of the worst events that she reported was a large wildfire that devastated a big portion of Texas. Despite her love of snow, she also enjoys going to beaches in summer and spends her free time with her family.
