Jill St. John was born Jill Arlyn Oppenheim to Betty (née Goldberg) and Edward Oppenheim on August 19, 1940 in Los Angeles, California. From an early age, at the age of 6 to be exact, St. John began performing on the radio by joining the Children’s Ballet Company of which actresses Natalie Wood and Stephanie Powers were also members at the time. The young actress made her television debut at the age of 9 in a television production of A Christmas Carol (1949).
While appearing in a number of shows and playing small roles in films like Thunder in the East (1951), St. John attended Powers Professional School and graduated from Hollywood Professional High School. School in 1955. The following year she enrolled at UCLA Extension School as her career took to the next level with roles in major studio films like Summer Love (1958), Vacation for Lovers (1959), and The Lost World (1960) among others.
