He helped lead the team to their first and only NBA championship in 1979. He was born on November 14, 1955 in Illinois. Three years after he left Sonic, they draft future All-Star center and forward Shawn Kemp. After an impressive career at Illinois Wesleyan University, he was named eighth overall by the SuperSonics in the 1977 NBA Draft.
