Bashaud Breeland was born on January 30, 1992, in Allendale, South Carolina, United States. He attended Allendale-Fairfax High School in Fairfax, South Carolina.  There he played football and basketball and had also run track.

Bashaud Breeland later attended Clemson University from 2010 to 2013 where he played college football. He entered the 2014 NFL Draft after his junior season.

The Washington Redskins selected Bashaud Breelandin in the fourth round with the 102nd overall pick of the 2014 NFL Draft. Bashaud Breeland was the tenth cornerback drafted in 2014.
